I saw the Aviator yesterday. Three reasons why I loved it.

1. Leo Di Caprio in a role that will definitely win him his first Oscar. He was fabulous as the eccentric Howard Hughes – the mannerisms, the tics, the genius, the madness.

2. Moonlight Serenade – I can still hear the soundtrack playing in my mind.

As a followup to the last issue of my newsletter titled How To Skyrocket Your Adsense Revenue, here are some of the responses I received from my subscribers.

———————————-

Dear Priya, You really got my head tumbling.

———————————-

My opinion is some tactics or techniques are best left unsaid. It will
become the "new" way to make money online with the newbies who don't
have a clue. They just jump on the bandwagon.

———————————-

Yes, I know I gave away some powerful information in that issue. But its not information thats not already been discussed on the forums. All I did was put the pieces of the puzzle together.

There are no secrets in internet marketing. If its in your head, you can be sure the information is already out there in the universe.

All I did was put it into a step-by-step format for those who might have picked up a few stray pieces of information and were having a hard time learning how to implement it.

Sort of like a map for those who were flying blind.

Believe me, I “can’t take you anywhere you don’t already know how to go” (That’s from “Witchy Woman” in case you’re not an Eagles fan).

Yes, I agree with the fact that there are always nasties who will abuse these techniques for click-fraud.

But I can bet that if you do something like that, sooner or later you will be caught.

Remember that “With great power comes great responsibility.”

Use your knowledge wisely. Don’t take it as a license to defraud advertisers or the search engines.

If you do decide to follow the steps I laid out in my issue, follow all of them and create websites that are useful – or you’ll not only piss off the search engines, but also your visitors.

And that’s all I have to say about that.

Heh heh. It was not my intention to stir up controversy, but I think I really got some people riled up with my last post on Allen Says’ new program.

The reason I wrote that post (even though I knew I would face flak) was because I want to make people think.

Think before they buy into a pitch for anything.

Sure it might sound like a good thing to link to someone’s blog with an affiliate link. Sure, its free. I doesn’t cost a thing to link to someone’s blog.

But before you buy into a sales pitch, think about the reasons why you’re doing it.

Like I said, I would be happy to link to Allen’s blog – affiliate link or not. But most people seem to have missed the point.

The issue is not Allen Says, his blog or anything he sells. In fact it has nothing to do with him or his program.

It has to do with the need to be a little more circumspect before jumping into a program – any program. Even one that is free.

Every time something new comes along online, people seem to rush into it headlong like lemmings.

What I’m trying to say is – Please people, before you jump on a bandwagon and start promoting anything, use your common sense, use your judgement.

Speaking for myself, my time is precious. I am very selective about what I choose to promote mainly because promoting something new requires a degree of dedication and commitment.

I don’t like to put up another link on my site or promote another website unless one or more of the following is true.

It’s targeted to my audience

They will benefit from

I will benefit from it

My ROI justifies the addition of that link

I understand that not everyone is as selective. But ask yourself

Are you really going to benefit from it?

Is it aligned with what you usually sell?

Is it going to be useful to your audience?

Are you promoting it for the right reasons?

Or are you just adding another link to your website, hoping someone will click through and (maybe) buy something?

If it’s the last, I suggest you don’t bother. Spend your time and effort on more fruitful ways of growing your business.

To achieve something you need to be completely focused on what you’re doing. If you fall into the trap of promoting every new program or product that comes along, you’re bound to lose that focus soon enough and drift aimlessly on the sea of mediocrity.

Consider money as no object.

Are there any tips or advice you would like to offer people?

What are your goals and aspirations for the future?

What obstacles do you have to overcome to achieve your goals?

Which people have been role models to you?

What are your favorite books, computer programs, or forms of entertainment?

What time of the day are you at your best?

The transcript seems to have screwed up the little smileys I put in my comments and replaced them with a J instead.

Allen Says is a genius! I mean that as a compliment. I mean the guy has convinced every internet marketer out there to promote HIS blog - and enjoy it.

Even I went ahead and I put up a banner on my Blog Maniac site. I mean, who wouldn’t want someone like Allen promoting your affiliate links? Imagine the kind of traffic his blog will generate.

But let me put a spoke in the wheel here. What exactly are you promoting with that affiliate link that you (and yes, I) put up on your blog and website?

A product, that’s what! Here it’s Allen’s blog that’s the product.

And what are you promoting? Your affiliate links? I think not!

Lets imagine what’s going to happen here a few months from how.

Alan has hundreds, even thousands of links pointing to his blog. His domain has a great PR. So now what’s going to show up at the top of the search engines?

Not your link (unless you’ve optimized it really well). No, it’s Alan’s domain (and affiliate links) that will be up there. And he’ll be the one getting the sales, not you.

And are you going to become a better known marketer, a well known name, someone to whom people will turn for marketing advice and recommendations.

No way! Because you’ve been promoting someone else’s marketing wisdom, and growing someone else’s list for them.

I mean do you honestly think that referring people to someone else’s blog is going to save you the trouble of writing your own?

Well if you’re as dumb as that, sorry, but you deserve to be at the bottom of the marketing food chain. (and while you’re there read my article on how to get to the top of the marketing food chain).

If you believe that, you don’t really “get” what the purpose of a blog is. So I’ll ease your pain and put it in short for you.

A blog is about branding yourself, communicating with your market, putting a human face on your business.

Do you think you can pass off someone else’s thoughts, wisdom and writing as your own?No way!

So here’s why I give this program a thumbs down.

Because it capitalises on the laziness of people who want the easy way out (which comprises most of our target audience anyways )

Because it fails to educate people about the value of having their own voice, their own name and building their brand.

Because it convinces people that they can “make money from blogging without writing a single word.”

The only person who’s going to benefit from the Blog Network program is Allen Says.

And since he’s the genius who thought this one up, he damn well deserves it too.

I’ve just added a section on how to write and submit a press release to my website. You’ll find a lot of articles, tools and useful reports there.

Why do I recommend using press releases as a marketing tool?

Well not only are press releases a cost-effective way to garner media attention and publicity, they also help boost your online presence and brand.

But one of the primary reasons I recommend using press releases online, is because it is the quickest and most effective way to build topical links and get high rankings for your site.

Since news releases are time-sensitive they are picked up very quickly, syndicated, and used on dozens of sites, with live hyperlinks to the website issuing that release.

This quickly gives you a large number of backlinks from sites that publish your press release or link to it.

According to Marketing Sherpa, more than 27 million consumers actively surf Yahoo News and Google News each month.

It only costs a single $80.00 fee to post your release on both these sites. And if your press release is written with search engines in mind, your results can be outstanding.

The question is not whether you should be using press releases, but how to write an effective press release that will give you the kind of traffic and rankings you need.

The resources in the Press Release section will help you do just that.

I am VERY excited with this new product launched by Mike Mograbi. It's something that publishers have desperately needed for a while now.

A way to get sequential messages across to your subscribers in the same way an autoresponder does, without the problems that plague email delivery.

It's called the RSS AutoPublisher Autoresponder System and it gives you all the benefits of publishing via RSS - without even knowing anything about RSS.

I just got my account and plan to start using it ASAP.

Now there's another software that I bought called RSS Responder, but it has to be installed on your own server. I had to pay my programmer a bundle to install it, and it can only be used on one domain.

I haven't started using it yet because it doesn't work with Atom feeds (the type created by my blogs on Blogger.com) and the developers haven't yet updated it to include this feature.

That's why I like Mike's new offering so much.

RSS AutoPublisher is very easy to use. It's just like an email autoresponder system with the only main difference being the output.

The only difference is that instead of giving 'email' output, RSS AutoPublisher gives out RSS output that can be read by RSS readers/aggregators. Your messages are retrieved and read by RSS readers not email clients.

The one downside I see about this is that your subscribers have to download and install an RSS reader or use a web based reader like Bloglines.

If your subscribers already read RSS feeds this is great. If not, you may need to educate them aboout the benefits of RSS.

You can direct them to the information here so they can read more about getting started with RSS.

RSS and Blogging

I don't agree with the assumption that email is dead, but yes, email IS in serious trouble and things are going from bad to worse every month.

According to Time Magazine, "At the four major e-mail providers - MSN (including Hotmail), Yahoo, Earthlink and AOL, between 40-70% of all incoming email is killed upon arrival at their mail servers."

With RSS Autopublisher, even an RSS newbie can now publish messages, newsletters, ezines, special offers and whatever you want in RSS without knowing ANYTHING about how to create a feed.

You do not even need to generate your own RSS feed in order to use RSS AutoPublisher. No RSS generating software or ANY software is needed.

You can use it's built-in HTML editor to create messages with stunning looks. Send messages of unlimited length.

No need to create text messages. All your subscribers can and will receive your HTML messages because there are no email filters to stop them.

You can finally write all the 'forbidden' spam-trigger email words and phrases you like, and still achieve 100% message delivery rate.

That's one part I'll REALLY enjoy. No more having to "mind my language."

RSS AutoPublisher has all the strengths and benefits of an email autoresponder system without it's delivery problems.

One advantage of it (in my opinion, a big one) is that there are no scripts to upload/install on your server and no configurations you have to do. You can manage everything from an easy browser interface.

Another reason I recommend it is that, as a happy customer of Mike Mograbi, I know his support is excellent. No concerns about that.

He has detailed video tutorials and PDF manuals that you can access once you login to your account, to get you up and running with your new publishing system. That's next on my to-do list for tonight.

I have a few things on my wishlist, like tracking, that I'm going to suggest to him.

But do check it out for yourself and don't forget to sign up for Mike's RSS Autopublisher News.

I watch my daughter playing one of her Jumpstart games and the part that entertains her (and worries me) the most is when she has to give one of the characters food (the junkier the better) and it responds with “Primo, dude! I’m stoked.”

Arrrgh! Now where can you apply it in YOUR business?

Here’s an example. Tell your customers how they are missing out by not ordering that new software that goes so well with your eBook – and how it can help them apply the techniques you endorse.

Like the way Stephen Pierce, author of The Whole Truth About Internet Marketing, endorsed the software that creates “Smartpage Generator.”

Or you can sell an eBook at a low entry price and use it to pitch a high-value product.

Use your creativity and come up with more ways to upsell. Then watch your sales soar… just like the guys at Disney.

Here’s a great article on boosting your creativity by Harry Hoover, managing principal of Hoover ink PR.

Everything you know about creativity is wrong, according to scientists. We have discovered roughly 95 percent of what we know about the brain in the past 20 years.

So, you probably think that only "special" people are creative. You couldn't be more wrong. All humans have the potential for creativity. But like any other skill, it requires some work to get good.

Let's examine the five steps to creativity.

First on the list: opportunities. You must look for chances to be creative and you can't let our old friend “fear of failure” get in your way. Take risks instead of settling for the status quo. Examine your daily routine. List all the things you do by rote and look for ways to improve them.

Training is our next step. Whether you seek out classes, or you go the DIY route, there is plenty of material available to you. Read How To Think Like Leonardo da Vinci, or Six Thinking Hats by Edward de Bono. Pick up the Creative Whack Pack by Roger von Oech or Michael Machalko's ThinkPak.

The creative process requires encouragement. Seek out creative mentors. Hang out with other creative people who have positive attitudes. Negative nannies suck the creativity right out of you. Avoid them.

Practice your newfound creativity. Remember, ideas can come from both success and failure. Thomas Edison learned 1,800 ways not to build a light bulb before he found his first way that produced light.

Finally, our most important step: belief that you are creative. A quick story to illustrate: A New York publisher was concerned about the lack of creativity among his editorial and marketing staff. He hired psychologists to try to determine what differentiated the creative employees from the others.

After a year of study, the psychologists discovered that there was only one difference between creative and non-creative employees: belief in their creativity. Creative employees believed they were creative, and the non-creative ones believed they were not.

I believe that you are creative. Now, it's your turn.

Harry Hoover is managing principal of Hoover ink PR. He has 26 years of experience in crafting and delivering bottom line messages that ensure success for serious businesses like Brent Dees Financial Planning, Duke Energy, Levolor, North Carolina Tourism, Ty Boyd Executive Learning Systems, VELUX and Verbatim.

How To Learn Internet Marketing

Just read this post on the Creating Passionate Users blog

Author of The New Brain, Richard Restak puts it this way:

"As recently as only a few years ago, most neuroscientists believed that brain plasticity largely ceased by adolescence or by early adulthood at the latest. At this point the brain became fixed in its structure and function--at least that was the prevailing assumption. But this assumption, too, turned out to be wrong."

He goes on to talk about how people--regardless of age--can still achieve superior, even expert-level performance in things they haven't done before.

The more we learn about the brain, the more we learn about learning, and learning is the key. Not just as something to get better at (i.e. learning to learn), but learning as exercise for the brain. In other words, learning virtually anything makes your brain better, and a better brain makes your learning better.

I’m beginning to understand why, every so often, I feel the need to reinvent myself and do something new. I’m the kind who gets bored in one place for too long.

Being a perfectionist, I believe that if something’s worth doing, it’s worth doing well. But I master new stuff relatively quickly, and once I’ve crossed the learning curve, I feel a mental restlessness and the need to move on to something new.

What does this have to do with internet marketing?

Everything.

On the internet, things change so quickly, it really keeps you on your toes. Technology and trends change so often that there’s something new to be learned everyday. Which, I guess is why I enjoy this so much.

From journalism, to online publishing, to search engine optimization, to copywriting, to blogging, might seem like a huge jump to some, but I enjoy every step of the process.

If you don’t enjoy the learning process, you’ll be left behind in internet marketing and watch your competitors overtake you.

Unless you’re willing to outsource a lot of your stuff and focus on growing your business, you’ll find it really hard to cope.

Once you’ve decided where you want to go or what you want to be doing online, you need to learn the skills that will take you there.

I believe that there are three steps to learning something new

Observation —> Emulation —> Innovation

I always learn a new skill by observing how others go about it. See how the successful ones conduct their business. Subscribe to their newsletters, read their blogs, visit their websites, buy their products, take their courses and observe closely how they do things like -

Publish their websites

Write their mailings

Publish ezines or blogs

Do joint ventures and with whom

The risks they take and those they don’t

Sometimes you can learn more by observing what they don’t do. Like the people they avoid dealing with.

Remember they’ve been around longer than you and me, and they probably have a feel for who the good ones are.

Once you’ve observed how others work online, choose a mentor (one or more is fine) and emulate (not imitate) what they do.

Once you have mastered those skills, you can begin innovating, adding your own personal touch, trying out new ideas and stuff.

Learning how to market online is not rocket science. It’s like any other skill – it just takes patience, persistence and dedication to learn.

But most of all it needs the passion – to learn something new, and apply what you’ve learnt to your new business.

Fredrik Wacka of CorporateBlogging.info has written a great article on Why Blogs Rank High In Search Engine.

Fredrik uses blogs as a strategic business communication tool and usually considers the fact that blogs rank high in search engines to be a positive side effect.

But he also recognizes that for some people search engine optimization, SEO, is a major reason for blogging and provides a list of explanations as to why your blog probably will rank high in search engines.

He believes that there are more than links to Blog's Search Engine success. If you want traffic through search engines you must get the basics right too, and he outlines a few that you need to consider.

Keywords, key phrases
Straight to the point
Each post's page structure
Coding
One subject per post
The blog site's information structure
Links then...?

I feel somewhat differently, and in the last post on Blogs, Pagerank and Powerlinking, I covered the reasons why I believe that linking is a HUGE factor in why blogs get better rankings, and get spidered MUCH faster than ordinary websites.

I mostly agree with his recommendations on on-page optimization though and believe that a combination of both is necessary to get that edge in the serps, especially for competitive keywords.

Via WebProWorld and Problogger

More information on Search Engine Optimization For Blogs

Before I take a break for the holidays, I want to share with you this well-written, heart-felt article by my friend, S. Kumar, about a disturbing trend seen in joint ventures online.

I'm sorry if this offends any of you, but I do share the views expressed in his article and admire his guts for saying what many of us felt but did not voice.

Over to you, Kumar...

Emerging Negative Tendencies On The JV Scenario!

Would you ever propose a JV to a potential partner that insults his intelligence, aims to squeeze the potential in his lists brutally and later on leaving him with a corrupted list?

Would you ever participate fully in a JV where the sole aim is to prostitute your hard earned, well maintained lists?

As I write this, I have received 3 major JV invitations for Christmas and one of them -- quite frankly, will result in serious abuse of your lists.

Bazee CEO's Arrest: CyberLaws In India Need To Be Clarified

The year is ending on a rather unfestive note for the Indian ecommerce industry, with the arrest (unnecessary, IMHO) of the CEO of Bazee.com, an online auction portal that was recently taken over by eBay.

The details of the case are available on Rediff and on the website of the Indian Online Advertising Association.

The online tech community was quick to respond, in support of the Bazee boss and even signed a petition asking for his release.

But the case highlights the fact that the law in India has yet to catch up with the technology, both in the case of the MMS incident and the arrest of Avnish Bajaj.

Of course, India being what it is, and Bajaj being an American citizen, all that has to happen is for the esteemed Ms. Condoleeza Rice to rattle her saber, and everyone will fall in line. As I write this, Bajaj is already out on bail and the storm will soon blow over.

As an online merchant for the last couple of years, I have been acutely aware of how much more advanced cyber-laws are in the USA, especially after last year's crackdown by the FTC on income and health claims by online merchants.

I am bound to follow legal restrictions applicable in the US, post the requisite legal disclaimers and privacy policy on my websites, and offer money-back guarantees when dealing with customers in the US.

So why shouldn't US citizens be bound to abide by the rules here?

Ecommerce in India is in a nascent phase. There will be casualties as there were in the US, when ecommerce there just took off.

No one is safe. Not individuals, not companies! Unfortunately, it's a process of growing up and coming to terms with the realities of doing business online.

Debate is all very well. But after that is over, instead of continuing to remain vulnerable, take the legal steps to protect yourself, your business and your customers from liability.
Marketing is all about communication.

But online marketing is not the same as offline marketing. Online, people look for content.

Only if you recognize the fundamental reality of how people use the Web, and learn how to use it to your advantage, will you succeed in communicating effectively with your visitors and subscribers.

C-T-P-M is based upon the fundamental reality of the way people use the web.

What is C-T-P-M?

C is for Content
Online, people search for information, look for solutions -- they are not looking for you. Give them what they want by converting your knowledge into high-quality, in-demand CONTENT.

T is for Traffic
Your theme-based topical content ranks high at the Search Engines, attracting free, targeted TRAFFIC... interested, open-to-you visitors.

P is for PREsell
Develop trust and confidence ("PREsell") by OVERdelivering relevant, original, high-value information to these motivated pre-customers. Then... and only then comes...

M is for Monetize
This is the easy part -- but it cannot happen if you fail to first execute C-T-P. MONETIZE your warm, willing-to-buy visitors in various ways.

Sell hard goods, e-goods, your personal or professional services... or all three.

Or become a "pure infopreneur" and earn substantial income without selling at all, through Google Ads, affiliate fees, finder's fees and other techniques.

Then diversify into multiple streams of revenue to maximize income, growth and stability.

Content --> Traffic --> PREsell --> Monetize is the only way for a small business to do business online and succeed.

Want to write effectively for the Web? Want to deep-connect with visitors to your site? Want to have raving fans of your e-zine, not merely "satisfied subscribers?"

It's all part of "PREselling"... that critical period of relationship-building before the sale (no matter what or how you sell).

Enter...
Make Your Content PREsell
. This is a quantum-leap book, unique in the literature of Net marketing.

But what's the point of being the best sales copywriter in the world if you have not yet PREsold your visitor?

Make Your Content PREsell
("MYCPS") will not teach you how to write "riveting, hypnotic, irresistible" or any other kind of sales copy.

It does not even contain any "money-making marketing secrets" that will "multiply your sales 100-fold... tomorrow."

So What Does
Make Your Content PREsell
Do?

It fills a gap, one that exists because most of us never really learned how to write to communicate when we should have -- in school.

No... you won't become a brilliant writer overnight. But anyone (with average IQ and some motivation) can indeed write effectively.

It starts by dropping the baggage of what you've "mislearned" (or never learned).

Read this book. And then practice what it preaches. Only practice-practice-practice will deliver the actual benefits.

This book is a mere catalyst. It's up to you to wring all the benefits out of it. But why is this unique, business-critical book being sold for just $9.95?

The answer is...

EVERYONE should learn how to write.

Period.

Learn how to communicate effectively with your site visitors and subscribers.

Make Your Content PREsell
is crucial for your online success.
It's your support, your feedback and your encouragement that has made me what I am today, and no matter how busy I am, I'm never too busy to say thanks for all you've done for me...

...some things which were so unbelievably generous, that warmed my heart and made me believe in the goodness of people like you.

Like the time a customer tried to purchase a product through my affiliate link, but ended up buying through his own link... and actually WROTE to the merchant to tell them that I should be credited with the purchase (the commission was $97 - not a small amount). The merchant was as surprised as I was, but its not the money that mattered. It was the thought that one of you could actually be so generous. Thank you whoever you are, from the bottom of my heart. :-)

Like the times many of you wrote in asking for my affiliate link so you could purchase stuff through it. Thank you again for your generosity. :-)

Like the wonderful feedback and comments I received, and keep receiving (and more are always welcome, because they make me feel that it's all worthwhile). Thank you all for making me feel proud that, in my own small way, I could help you achieve your goals. :-)

Thank you for being my subscribers, customers, business partners. For helping a stay-at-home mom on the other side of the planet achieve her dreams of financial independence.

Thank you for giving me confidence in my ability to contribute and help others - the driving force of my life.
And to show you how grateful I am, I'd like to give you a small token of my appreciation.

search engine guide, Number One In Your Niche
, I stress that having lots of content related to your main keyword is really the best way to become Number One In Your Niche. But not just any content...

Adding fresh, updated content to your website is the surest way to get search engines engines to spider your site more often. And in my new article, I outline six ways to automate the process of adding fresh, updated content and creating more spider-food on your website. Read it below.

6 Ways To Attract Search Engines To Your Website More Often

I've found that one of the best and easiest ways to add new content to your website is to publish a blog on your own domain.

Blogs are easy to post to and maintain and they require no technical knowledge of setting up a website. Also search engines LOVE blogs because of the links and keywoord-rich content.

Tips to remember when you write a blog:

1. Keep your tone conversational
2. Keep posts at a length of about 300-500 words
3. Use all the correct techniques for web writing: bulleted lists, lots of white space.
4. Use keyword-rich links that lead search engines back to specific pages of your site so they'll spider them more easily.

In fact I think blogs are such an important tool for any business that I created a new site just to promote them.

The site is a blog by itself (most of my new sites are) for which I created a customized Blogger template, and it offers information and whitepapers on business blogging. Check it out especially if you require help getting started with your own Business Blog.

I joined up just a few days ago and have already used one of the products to create new content and articles to promote the natural health website here.

Natural Weight Loss Tips

The demand for health and fitness information in particular is mind-boggling - Overture.com reports that the term "weight loss" alone was searched (through the popular search engines) nearly one million times last month.

However, creating content is the hardest, most time-consuming part of info-product or website creation. Good ghostwriters and content writers charge hundreds of dollars to write articles or reports.

Now you can let Push-Button Health handle the research and hard work for you... at a fraction of the cost.

See what you get with your membership to Push-Button Health

1. Two Professionally Written Private Label Products Each Month

2. Two Accompanying, Professional Sales Letters Each Month

3. Free Access to the Information Product Development and Marketing Club (IPDMC) - Unlimited Training to create your own Info-products...

4. Free Access to the Web Development Club...

5. Free Turnkey Product Packages that include access to a small but growing collection of ready-made health and fitness related products including master resale rights

And what can do you do with these info-products?

Well here are a few suggestions...

- Tap into the massive, multi-billion dollar Health and Fitness industry

- Generate zero-cost, targeted web-site traffic and opt-in subscribers using content written exclusively for members

- Create your own viral articles, special reports, digital books, master resale rights products, and more in just minutes without writing a word of the content yourself

Here's an example of an article I wrote and published, in under 15 minutes, using the content in this site.

Low-Carb Diets - An Introduction

You'll see how easy it is to put this content to use in promoting your website, getting your articles published on other sites, and boosting your Pagerank.

Of course, I would advise you to make some modifications to the content to make it unique.

I've found that writing articles is really the most proactive way to build your business and anyone who can write even a little should be publishing articles - or at the very least, a blog.

If I haven't written an article in a while, it's because I don't write unless I have something worthwhile to say.

If I have some tips or new stuff to share, I usually do it right here on this blog.

I was seriously considering moving this newsletter permanently to my blog so I can publish more frequently.

But a snap poll of my subscribers revealed that 81% of them were not in favor of a blog, so I guess its true that email should still be the #1 source of delivery for marketers.
You know that I've been an advocate of blogging, or as I prefer to call it, the "lazy person's publishing solution," for a while now.

I knew my life had taken its final jump into the virtual world when my husband and 5-year old daughter were drawing a picture of a mouse a few days ago.

He drew a "real" mouse, tail and all. She, on the other hand, drew a computer mouse, and promptly declared, "My mouse is better than yours."

Are we spending too much time online, I wondered?

Probably. But do I care?

Not! :)

Thanks to the wonders of instant messaging, it's easier to exchange intimacies with someone on the other end of the planet than it is to exchange pleasantries with a neighbour.

Besides if you don't like someone online, there's always the delete button.

Unless you're Tony Soprano, pesky neighbours can't be dealt with that easily (and I know at least one on whom I'd love to use the delete buton ;).

To get back to more mundane issues in this "internet marketing" newsletter, here are some online trends I gleaned from recent browsings -

- As far as online consumers' desires are concerned, "peace and happiness" is just peachy for the holiday season, but that sexy little digital camera, would be the icing on the cake.

- The internet is globalizing rapidly and if you want to stay ahead of your competitors, you have to start selling to customers from Texas to Timbuctoo.

- 26 percent of American internet users have rated a product, service or person using an online rating system. [Hmmm, might be interesting to see how they rated products that claim to "enhance" certain body parts. ;)]

- Repeat after me: "Email is NOT dead." Despite growing spam levels, consumers increasingly accept email as their communication channel of choice from marketers.

- One of the most rapidly growing industries online is... surprise, surprise - the online travel industry - which is expected to double its revenues in the next three years.

And speaking of changes, you might want to check out the new look of my
EbizWhiz website

What's that? Want one like it? ;)

Well then you can contact the talented designer here.

We're going to start working together on a few new projects, but till then he's available, if you need a custom designed website or flash presentation.

John Delavera has just released a new eBook called the "Together Project," that chronicles the online experiences of 28 ordinary folks making a living online, using only the skills they possess.

These are not gurus or millionaires, but some of their stories will inspire you to believe that if these people could do it in the most difficult of circumstances, surely you can too.

From S. Kumar, who built a thriving resale rights business from a remote village in India, where the internet connection or power supply, often both, was almost non-existent...

...to Tali, the courageous blind Israeli student struggling to attain his dreams of financial independence online.

Read the accounts of "
Real Stories By Real People Sharing The Same Passion: To Succeed Online
"

What I found most interesting was that each participant actually asked a "guru" a question about them they always wanted to know the answer to.

And the big guns - Mark Joyner, John Reese, Yanik Silver, Perry Marshall, Jimmy D. Brown, Joe Vitale, Willie Crawford, Yanik Silver, Craig Perrine, Brian Tracy, Paul Barrs and Mark Hendricks - all answered the questions posed by the contributors, even though some were quite provocative.
Another product that I'm really impressed by is
Armand Morin's Instant Video Generator.

I'm not planning to start using it anytime soon, because I still have to learn how to create video, but if you're interested you should check it out.

It really blew my mind, and that's saying a lot, because it takes a lot to impress me nowadays. :)

A new service I tried out this month is Neil Shearing's new Traffic Splitter, which I've been using to test different headlines on my
Number One In Your Niche
sales page here.

According to the sales letter, "Traffic Splitter Uses An Incredible Fuzzy Logic System To Automatically Decide Which Sales Letter Works Best, And Drop The Bad Ones... Without You Having To Lift A Finger"

If, like me, you're numerically and statistically challenged and would rather have a script do the number crunching for you than work it out in an Excel sheet, this tool may be just what you need to test your sales copy.

It gives you the results in an easy-to-understand format - no need to scratch your head wondering which headline or copy performs the best.

It made the nightmare of testing copy the easiest thing in the world for me. Thank you, Neil, for an excellent service. :)

You can try it out for just $1 here

Traffic Splitter

Remember that when you test your sales copy with this script, you should only change one variable at a time - either the headline, or the guarantee, or the price, or anything else you're testing.

Want to test many variables at a time? Well, I learned that Armand Morin has just released a new testing script based on the Taguchi method of multivariable testing that revolutionized the automobile industry.

You can read more about how the Taguchi method is now revolutionizing the advertising industry, by subscribing to Dr. James Kowalick's newsletter

I've been reading about the Taguchi method, but actually applying it to my sales testing process was not feasible, till now...

Armand's multivariable testing, tracking and tweaking tool allows you to test many variables at a time, and is called "MultiTracking Generator" (that guy sure loves the "generator" word).

Check out this truly revolutionary tool here

Armand Morin's MultiTracking Generator

But if you need something simpler for testing, here's a no-cost tool sent in by one of my subscribers, David Lean (not the film director ;).

EzTrack Pro

It gives you unlimited tracking url's and split testing for your different landing pages and sales pages, and works a bit like Clickalyzer.

I got this story in the mail today, and loved it so much, I thought I'd share it with you.

-----------------

Some people understand life better

And they call some of these people "retarded"...

At the Seattle Special Olympics, nine contestants, all physically or mentally disabled, assembled at the starting line for the 100-yard dash.

At the gun, they all started out, not exactly in a dash, but with a relish to run the race to the finish and win.

All, that is, except one little boy who stumbled on the asphalt, tumbled over a couple of times, and began to cry.

The other eight heard the boy cry. They slowed down and looked back.

Then they all turned around and went back...... every one of them !!!

One girl with Down's Syndrome bent down and kissed him and said,"This will make it better." Then all nine linked arms and walked together to the finish line.

Everyone in the stadium stood, the cheering went on for several minutes.

People who were there are still telling the story...

Why? Because deep down we know this one thing: What matters in this life is more than winning for ourselves.

What matters in this life is helping others win, even if it means slowing down and chang! ing our course.

"A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle"

Donald Trump and the 21 Giant Lies About Success

A day ago I mailed out the October issue of my ezine. Its started like this.

"Having been brought up all my life to be a "nice, pleasant, polite" person, I find it hard... REALLY hard... to be otherwise.

Unless, of course, someone REALLY gets on my nerves.

In which case I usually leave them wishing they'd never met me ;)

Why am I telling you this?

Because I have learned, from years of experience... of being nice, polite and pleasant... one HARD LESSON...

Nice doesn't pay!

In fact it usually gets you all trampled over. Especially when you're dealing with someone who plays hardball, or doesn't respect your abilities.

I know because I've been there. And I hated it.

I'm good to people, because it comes naturally to me... and because I know what goes around comes around.

But I'll never let someone take me for a fool or walk all over me.

And neither should you.

No matter what you've been taught in your life (especially if you're a woman and are conditioned to be nice and personable) remember that you'll only be respected if you demand to be treated as a professional.

Then this month, I read a book that reinforced all the lessons I learned (or unlearned) through hard experience.

The book is Dan Kennedy's "No Rules: 21 Giant Lies About Success, And How To Make It Happen Now"

(if you live in India, you should get it at your local bookstore, which is where I got my copy)

Sometimes I wish I'd read it earlier, but perhaps I wouldn't have appreciated it as much as I do today.

One of my favourite chapters is titled "Modesty and Humility May Be Admirable Qualities in a Monk, But Not In an Entrepreneur."

A sampling -

1. Myth: "Think positive!" and life will be wonderful (page 1)

Dan's version: Call me. I have some swampland to sell you.

2. Myth: The meek shall inherit the earth (page 27)

Dan's version: But not in the foreseeable future.

3. Myth: Winners never quit, quitters never win (page 74)

Dan's version: Quit! The first step to getting out of a hole is to stop digging.

And Dan continues in that (often hilarious) vein throughout the book - demolishing every myth you've ever believed about success and success thinking.

This is a book that EVERY entrepreneur or wannabe entrepreneur must read - because it tells you everything they DON'T teach you in business school.

And in keeping with that, here's an article about one of the very people Dan talks about in his book, the ever-so endearing and likeable Donald Trump.

You don't necessarily have to be as obnoxious as Donald Trump to be a success, but there are a lot of lessons you can learn from the man... so start now."

You can read the rest of the newsletter here
Donald Trump and the 21 Giant Lies About Success

Well, at least I know my subscribers are reading my issues, because I got a lot of responses almost immediately after posting this one - some by people who were most offended by my choice of role model.

As one emphatically stated: "Donald Trump is a spoiled brat who got most of his money from his dad."

I'm sure he is. But the idea was not to become like him, but to learn from what he does right.

Others (mainly women) completely empathised and supported my view. Perhaps this was one issue meant for the gals. ;)

Whatever... I have no apologies whatsoever about my stance.

Some of you may have misunderstood my opinion as supporting arrogance, or not being a good person being OK, as long as it was business.

That's not what its about at all!!

All I meant was that you should keep these two things in mind when doing business.

1. Do right by yourself

2. Do right by your customers

Everything else is an outcome of these two principles.

After all if YOU don't respect and stand up for yourself, who will?!!

I know the women out there hear me loud and clear... because we let ourselves get trampled on far too often.

In business. In life.

But no matter what your gender is, in your dealings with people, you gotta give what you get.

If people are nasty and try to bully you, don't be afraid to tell them off, even at the cost of being labelled a "bitch."

If people are good to you, be good right back.

Only when you respect yourself will others respect you.

And that's the hard truth!

I was shocked when he told me about all the sites he had joined up and the resources he was spending money on - unsuccessfully trying to make a living online.

All I could say to him was this: "If you had only called me a few months ago, I would have told you exactly where to spend your money - with Bryan Winters' Pushbutton Publishing membership site."

What made me feel even worse was that I could have saved him so much money and put him on the right track if only he had asked for my advice before spending all he did.

And why do I recommend PushButton Publishing as the Premium site for information products and internet marketing resources online?

Well, just take a look at the

I credit most of my success online to the head start I got when I joined this membership site...

Aren't You Just Sick of All The Hype?

It's been a really busy month for me. I decided to further my marketing education by joining a diploma course in Advertising. Although it only takes up a few hours in the evenings, it does leave me with much less time for my online business.

But I'm having so much fun... brushing up on my (real-world) marketing knowledge, interacting with some really great professors, doing case-studies, projects and making friends with people ten years younger than me. :-)

We all reach a point at which we need to put more effort into learning new things to grow our business or run the risk of stagnating.

With me it's largely boredom, having been cooped up with my PC for the last 3 years, with very little interaction with the world of the living.

Never being one to balance things well, I tend to overdo it one way or another.

And believe me, if you're in the same boat as I was, you really need to get out more often and see what's going on in the real world from time to time.

Or else you'll start believing that everything you read online is gospel truth... which it isn't.

I am soooooo sick of the hype and crappy products that get thrown my way. I only recommend products that I have used, read and believe in. And I'm sorry to say that there are precious few of those around right now.

If you want to see the products I truly believe in and recommend, you can check out my
internet marketing product reviews
here.

Download an RSS reader here

Another reason I'm taking this course is that I'll be starting my own web copywriting services soon and want to be exposed to more creative ideas than I can get sitting at home at my PC.

I just wish there were 48 hours in the day for everything I want to do :-)

I'll let you know when I start my services. It would make me so happy to write the copy that helps you make your first big breakthrough online. And I won't be charging a bomb either. :-)

Here are samples of the copy I've written so far

Number One In Your Niche

This sales letter gave a conversion rate of 3 to 5% in the first month of launch and still converts pretty well.

Traffic Turbocharger

Covert Affiliate

The sales copy I did for my buddy, Satya's sites above, has made him a pretty packet for the last few months. He owes me a really nice testimonial for them ;-)

If you are looking for a copywriter who will do the job for a decent price (and you're willing to be my guinea pig), do get in touch with me and we'll work something out.

The last month or so has seen more than its fair share of hype online, so I've decided to do away with guru-speak and publish an article by a non-guru, with some very pertinent advice for beginning marketers.

I really like it because it tells you why you shouldn't fall for every over-hyped sales pitch online... even if I'm the one who wrote it ;-)

Read the article
In the Beginning, Ignore the Gurus!
here.

And finally, heeeeeerrrre comes the sales pitch...

Just kidding. No pitch today. I'm as sick of hype as you are.

And I'm gonna get even sicker, because I've decided I'm going to start writing the stuff myself.

Maaaaan.... I really like to make life hard for myself :-)

So I'm just going to leave you with a link to an ebook featuring an interview by my long-time pal, Al Martinovic, with whom I share an abiding love for sea and sand, and a dislike for that pretentious "guru" label.

"How to Make Massive Amounts of Money In Record Time With Your Own eBook!"

By Jim Edwards and David Garfinkel

This eBook has completely changed the way I look at eBook publishing!

The way most eBooks tend to get published is that the author first spends months to research and write an eBook and then starts looking for a market to sell it to.

In a startling revelation, Jim Edwards tells David Garfinkel why this is the exact opposite of what eBook authors should be doing.

He explains that that the reason many ebooks don’t sell at all is because their authors didn’t first find answers to these three basic questions:

1. Is there a large enough market for you to sell to?
2. Is your market willing to PAY for your information?
3. Will your eBook solve a problem they desperately want the answers to?

But he doesn't just stop at asking the questions. He shows you step-by-step how to research and find the answers in the excellent bonuses that come with eBook Secrets Exposed.
